no mol traps - 04/19/15 07:00 PM

I set three sets and had three sprung. Is this operator error? I set the trigger about 3/4 of an inch back. Wish I would have just bought more of steves traps.

You set with the tines down? If you contact Alan at WCS he could be helpful. He has used the product in the field.

Throw back, in my experience moles may not be dispatched immediately and have gotten out. I'd almost bet it was eventually fatal, but not immediate. I noticed the group humped up above the trap where they'd worked to get out. That's when I switched to Steve's.

Put the trigger back a lil farther...about the slight bend in the jaws....u want that mole so he is caught behind front shoulders with end of jaws

I am the kind of mole trapper that is mad when i dont catch the mole where i should...caught one by front foot and one by back fur last week and really gets to me

All traps work if you learn to master the proper setting mechanics of the trap in question. After some experience with many devices you will settle on what you find is your choice of trap. I can use them all since years back the traps available were limited so you had to make due with what you had to work with.

I still use 2 or 3 types now depending upon the depth of the tunnels. They are all productive when setting them with the skill of good applications. Some of the old standby traps I just use to keep my technique skills tuned up. When I teach or instruct I show all the types and how to set them for the best results. Then that individual can make up their own mind as to which one best suits their method.

In case you buy someone out, find a deal at a yard sale or flea market you can still use the older type traps if you get them cheap enough.

This...

I like to use them where I have trouble bedding Steve's traps correctly.
