DEC has the nuisance wildlife regulations book on their site. Start with that as it keeps you out of trouble. It'll also tell you a bit about each one. Google is your friend. Pick an animal or insect and start reading. Knowing the habits of the animal will help you catch it, and avoid others.

I'll try and find you a hard copy. I had three, but after loaning them out and people not returning them, I only have one left, and it's needed here. Let me try and hunt you one down. Just curious, how old are you ? You can PM me.

Dec has one on their site. I printed a copy out when I took their test. Cornell has the pesticide books. Maybe they also have the wildlife book.

If you are in Rochester, will assume you will trapping squirrels, skunks, chucks, coon to start with, maybe beaver and muskrats. Again, positive den sets, trail set etc. work great. A lot has been written on this site about setting like this with conibears and double door cages, minimizing non targetted catches, maintenance, gas expense and time on the road. We are always available to explain these methods on the forum or on the phone to anyone.
