Very few on the market that I have found and most are out of China (crap)

I will be testing one in Arizona soon (I know it is different because It is citrus season) but hope to test it on brown/black and wood rats........

I am thinking it will be a "situation" oriented trap,,,,ssssssssoooooooooo,,,,,,,,,not sure how much opportunity will be available....

Stay tuned,,,,,,,,,,.......more to come as results come in

What type of situation? Attic, basement, or just free range vagrant type animals? We only have Norway and some roof rats here. I've never caught more than one in a trap of any type. Even positive set colony trap over the only exit. Of course I don't typically take on rat jobs, unless I feel the need to be humbled.

We don't typically get a lot of rat jobs but there is one thing I have noticed over the years. If the customer called because they

just noticed a rat in their basement for the first time, you will probably catch him immediately because he is unfamiliar with that

home. Conversely, if a customer calls because they want you to get rid of some rats that they've had for a while, be prepared to

spend some time. Rats are neophobic. ( Like Vinke says, Yahoo it, if you don't know what it means )

Re: Repeating rat traps? - 01/29/15 04:15 AM

situation in Arizona is roof rat eating fruit,,, I am going to place trap on wall with trail cameras

Cage is different them most as the door is open until the rat triggers it,,,,,kind of like mikes floating muskrat trap..........

this should encourage entry

Great bait will probably be a partial skinned rat as i have found many in snap traps chewed on..........

I use a baited colony trap for grey squirrels. No reason it wouldn't work on rats rite?

Re: Repeating rat traps? - 02/02/15 10:17 PM

Pretty much so, 30x30X6 inch high cage with a one way door on each corner. Trail em in with sunflower seeds and leave a pile in the middle.

And there is nothing more charming than a tattoo of a huge blue spider on your arm. How drunk do you have to be to get one of those?

But who am I to criticize? My sister-in-law has a tattoo of Ed Gein. If you don't know who that is, yahoo him. You won't believe it.

Re: Repeating rat traps? - 02/05/15 01:58 PM

I've been to Ed Geins grave on halloween! He was not a wasteful person. He didn't kill everyone, but when he did, he ate them! Plainfield is about 15 minutes from my front door, and to this day if you say his name in a gas station or someplace like that you get some dirty looks. As a matter of fact, I get those looks before I say it. Are the people of Plainfield psychic?

Re: Repeating rat traps? - 02/05/15 02:57 PM

Mike, the scary thing is that whoever did the tattoo on my sister-in-law did such a good job that I recognized old Ed immediately.

We caught three juvenile woodrats in a multi catch recently, a few doubles and a few singles. Usually juveniles.

After Ed Gein and Jeffrey Dahmer, Wisconsin is lucky to have us.

Re: Repeating rat traps? - 02/06/15 04:07 PM

Old Ed probably killed two women so he wasn't the huge serial killer that everyone thinks. It didn't help any that they found one of

the women that he killed, hung up in his shed like a deer, with the head cut off. Grave robbery is where he got all of the bodies.

I was a freshman in high school when he got caught and you could read about him in the paper for weeks. His real claim to fame was

all the stuff he made out of human skin. Wastepaper baskets, lampshades, clothing, masks, belts, you name it. The warden said that

Gein was a model prisoner and I think he was 77 when he died there.

Re: Repeating rat traps? - 02/06/15 08:42 PM

Ed started by "liking" aged meat,,,,......

I hope i don't end up like him,,,,,,My wife always complain when I pull a green meet out of the refrigerator and grill it, until it is on her plate........

Re: Repeating rat traps? - 02/07/15 07:07 PM

So many people beat on old Eds head stone that it is gone. The rest of his family is buried there too. I noticed that after his father died, his mother, and brothers were dead pretty shortly afterward. It was suspected that he poisoned them so he would get the farm.

Company. I thought it was a great shirt!!

Re: Repeating rat traps? - 02/08/15 01:59 AM

Eds dad was an alcoholic and made it into his sixties. He was deeply attached to his mother who was probably the cause of his

insanity. They thought he might have killed his brother but since he died fighting a fire, it was impossible to prove. I guess once

he received mental help he became pretty normal.
