Which Rodent?

Which Rodent? - 11/29/14 12:47 AM

Is there any way of knowing which rodent did this so I can look for the right entry locations and pick the right poison? Looks like the rodent chewed out from the wall under the electrical plate in the wall and then chewed a 4 inch wide hole under a solid pine door into the master bathroom in less than 48 hours. Location: a 1980s log cabin with cement foundation around a garage and a crawlspace, Eastern WA State, Ponderosa Pine forest at elevation 2700 feet.

Not sure what you have in your part of the country. But in my area, I would look at a squirrel.

If noise at night then most likely rat. if no noise or noise in the wall daytime squirrel. looks like as Jim stated squirrel fell down the wall got stuck and chewed out then the door to find another way out. but looks can be deceiving so what is your customer hearing and seeing. more than just the two spots. the 4 W's

I haven't seen them actually get into the walls themselves very often. But it may also be a Woodrat AKA packrat.
