I personally don't do any bat work other than some late night captures. I do try to stay in touch with any talk about bats in our

area of southeast Wisconsin. I have heard very little about WNS other than the same thing every state probably gets from the DNR

in their state capitol. If there is anything of interest for our neck of the woods, I would love to hear it!

after doing some research in this disease for the podcast tonight, this is a issue that I must confess know very little about, so if someone is familiar with this disease please take the time and join us tonight.
Its only a hour of your life, that's a small price to pay to spread a beneficial word about this very deadly disease thats doing harm to bats populations in 25 states..

Mike,

Would love to talk White-nose syndrome (WNS) on another night, but just saw the post this morning on the road back through sketchy territory.

Be glad to discuss the latest and greatest on another evening if desired.

Best,

Justin

We have decided to move the podcast to another night, one that Justin can join us and give us some very good information on, We feel that this is to important of a subject to just generalize the info, I think this needs to be current and up to date info on this very delicate situation. Justin, let me know when you are available to do this.

Hey Mike,

Very much appreciate the opportunity to help spread awareness of WNS and will make time to do so on your podcast.

If you have any openings next week I will make any evening you have work. This is my last busy week on the road so
my flexibility opens up starting Monday.

Again thanks for the opportunity and dedicating an evening to WNS.

Also...Would be interested in hearing from you other guys on how this WNS has affected your bat business as far as call are concerned. I am aware that this has nothing to do with the general WNS, But I think the impact to our industry is alarming. Just want to try to put it in perspective.

Re: Podcast!!! Tonight at 8:00. White Nose Syn. - 11/05/14 10:01 PM

Mike,

I too think it is important on any industry podcast to illuminate these aspects, in reality it does tie in to WNS in terms of something I feel needs
more light. If more folks tracking WNS were able to talk to and work closer with the folks in our industry there are many things that can be learned
in terms of species and impacts.

I've learned from others in NY and elsewhere about the amount of calls they receive, the species of bats that tend to be related to those calls and just the overall impact of more of the public knowing more about bats because WNS has pushed bats into more light than they've ever had before.

What we do as an industry can have a tremendous positive impact on bat conservation when we teach the public about bats and when we perform exclusion services that are done to evict bats without damaging the populations.
