Took this out of a roof space last week just wondered how it compared to the nests you lads remove

Looks like our yellow jackets. That one would be on the big side of average. Average is about half that size but I've gotten much bigger, to the tune of arm's length diameter and height.

I have seen similar in both baldface hornet nests-


and yellow-jacket nests



Is your picture also showing expanded foam insulation installed in an attic?
