This Ever Happen To Any Of You?

I got a squirrel in a bedroom call tonight. It's a 30 minute drive and it's after 7 P.M. so it ain't cheap. The customer shows me

to the kids bedroom and I open the door and go in. The squirrel is sitting on the computer chair. I set my completely unbaited

cage on the chair. The squirrel moves off of the chair then turns around and jumps in the cage while it was still in my hand. I

wasn't in the room for more than 20 seconds! That was so fast it was embarrassing. ( For the squirrel, not me. I'm the Pied Piper )

It's cuz the tree rat turned and saw the biggest nut he'd ever laid eyes on!

I've had it a couple of times when I'm catching a mole from a garden. I've seen the hill moving while i'm chatting to the house owner. Popped a trap in and then stamped the other side of the hill. 3 seconds later the trap goes off, i gets the mole out alive and show them it in my hand. I then pop it into my pocket as I like to release them if they're alive somewhere they can't cause any damage (or where someone owes me money!) and the customer is totally gobsmacked. An easy £90...Wish I could have one of those a day!Those customers are the best advert you can get because they tell all their friends how good you are. of course, its luck but I'd rather be lucky than good!

I had a job like that with a Flyer once. I turned a kids room and closet upside down trying to locate it, to make it a one trip call. After what I thought was a thorough search, I set a baited 5X5 down on the floor in front of the closet doors. The squirrel instantly came out of the closet I had just searched, sniffed the cage, and walked right in...another really strange one was with a Gray Squirrel in a girls bedroom. The room was only about 10 X 10 , and had almost nothing in it but a bed, dresser, and a big shelf of stuffed animal toys. They swore it was in there, and I searched everywhere, even leaned the mattress and box springs up against that shelf, to look under the bed and between them. Finally, after 10 or 15 minutes of getting frustrated, I get the feeling something is watching me. I looked at those stuffed toys better, and one of them was that Squirrel, all the time I was there, he never moved, or even blinked. I grabbed him with the snake tongs and put him in the cage.LOL

Good stories Albert. I had no trouble picturing those in my mind at all. I especially liked the part about "being watched".

Yeah, done that several times with a mole's tunnel. Great fun to jam a shovel in behind 'em and flip 'em out. Just don't leave them there on the ground alive - they'll be out of sight in seconds. Yes, this is from personal experience, yes, it happened right in front of a customer, and yes, it was a long time ago!

Got a red squirrel quick like that. Customer barely had time to open up a window.
