I am in need of some snake traps that i can use to relocate them.
I do not want to harm them, just catch and remove them before the home owners become there demise.
Any ideas on what i can use that will work for the snakes sake.
Thanks
Dave

I made a snake box out of a old cordless drill box with air holes.
The entrance is a 1 inch by 2 inch square tube that sticks inside the trap 2 inches with a 8 inch piece of bicycle inner tube hose clamped over it.
This will allow the snake to enter but will have trouble getting back out because the tube lays flat.
Bate with dead mice and see what happens.
Thanks

Glue boards have an excellent chance of killing them.

BigBob, we have very few snake calls so I don't have much to go on but so far I've released the handful of snakes that I've caught on
glue boards seemingly unharmed. We do have a couple of what I thought were minnow traps, but now I find out they are snake traps, so
if we ever get a job with more than one snake, I guess were set! ( Actually, we had one job at least a decade ago that had seven good
sized grass snakes. I caught them all by hand. )

Only takes one touch of the nose on the board, and he said he wanted to release unharmed.
What's the chances?

I release them off glue boards all the time just by taking them out in the woods and pouring vegetable oil on them. The important part is don't try to help them or you will kill them. I think a square minnow trap would be a good one. The round ones I think need some modifying with som fencing guiding them. More importanta than bait is location it has to be on their travel path. I'm getting ready to try a live mouse in some minnow traps in my field to see if they escape or catch snakes. For water snakes the minnow traps are definitely the way to go.

I've used the Cahaba successfully to relocate rat snakes using veggie oil.
You can also use a pc of plastic downspout cut 2-3 ft long and put glue boards in the middle third of it, just like a Cahaba.
I actually watched a 3' rat snake go into the Cahaba, IN MY LIVING ROOM...about 130 am a few yrs ago.
We usually watch TV in our living room but I've got to admit that live is a lot more exciting.
