Possums actually don't like to be sprayed by skunk

Who knew? With all the possums we've caught that have smelled like skunk I didn't think they cared.

We stopped at a place in BFE to pick up a skunk after a seal up job and found a possum in one of the other traps we had out. I grabbed the possum while I was nice and let my partner go after the skunk. While both cages were sitting by the truck the skunk let loose. The possum was about 3 feet away and suddenly became quite active trying to get out of the cage.

What's the oddest animal you've caught that smelled like skunk?

I'll bet not many of you have caught an opossum that reeked of skunk because he ate it. And every last piece too. All that was left was a nearly perfect hide. It was even pretty well fleshed.

I had two opossum that shared a dead skunk in a crawlspace. Real fun fishing him out!
