Found gloves u like - 04/11/14 04:53 PM
I can't find a pair of gloves that I don't throw in the dirt the first time I have to set a trap or hold sheetrock screw in place. Anyone reccomend a non insulated work glove with the dexterity we need?
Thanks,
HJ

I don't wear gloves as a rule but when I do it's these.
http://m.homedepot.com/p/Unbranded-Firm-...53-06/203465924I've found goatskin to be the most pliable and doesn't break down when wet.
And these for nitrile.

I'm very happy with Plainsman brand Cambretta (sheepskin) leather gloves. $20 for 2 pair, from Sam's. Extremely comfortable, very supple, only thing wrong with them is when working firewood, the finger tips wear thru from handling the rough logs.
Funny you should mention that! I found a really fantastic deal on Curad flex-feel bandages today at Menards. Two boxes of 30 bandages each for a buck. About this time of the year I have already developed enough cuts and slices that gloves aren't really a necessity anymore. Besides, at my age most of the feeling has left my hands, my feet, not to mention my brain.
http://www.homedepot.com/p/West-Chester-...47?N=5yc1vZc260A dollar a pair. Use em, abuse em and throw them away when you get too much peanut butter, silicone or foam on them.
The nitrile is thick enough to grab a drywall screw, let it spin between 2 fingers trying to start it in sheet metal, and you don't have to worry about a burr taking some skin off.

Yeah, I kinda like those rubber-palm stretchy things. Good balance between tactile ability and decent protection.

That's what I use to use but the nitrile will last a lot longer and go through a couple of washings.
I use rubber palm dipped gloves that are for gardening and I love them.

Too funny! I've been going through em like gangbusters since setting up a squirrel job without anything.

The wife said to try leather driving gloves since the guy on TV used em (Billy the Exterminator) I laughed but threw a pair of leather shooting gloves I had in the truck and I'll tell u they worked sweeet. Winchester brand I picked em up for like $5 at Walmart a few years ago.

I got sick of burning threw the cheap gloves you get at the hardware stores and stubbled across these guys and will never get another glove from anyone else.

I use mechanic deer leather and found a pair of goat leather gloves, not sure the brand that I found though. String-knit gloves work pretty good too. Not sure if you would be comfortable to use them though.
If you guys keep coming up with these cool ideas, I may actually try wearing gloves. I never get a decent grip on an animal wearing gloves of any kind. Bare hands always worked the best for me.

I always wear heavy stuff handling animals but what gets me is cutting H.C. and putting in sheetrock screws! I look like I was in an armwrestling match with a circular saw!
