A Boy Scout leader from New York is recovering after he was bitten by a beaver that had rabies.

Doesn't sound good. They said the scouts killed it with rocks. Had the same thing happened here in the Battenkill River, about 15 years ago perhaps. A ten year old boy was swimming in the river, got 70 stitches in the back from a rabid beaver.

Exact same thing happened here in my area. A fisherman got his thumb bit off after he reached down to push a beaver away from his boat. Beaver was killed by the guys friend and tested possitive for rabies.
