Quack me up

I have heard of it happening but never seen it till today. Had a call for noises in a chimney and it has stopped but the caller wanted it checked any way. So I went and did a Inspection and found a female woodduck dead in the chimney. Sounds like a chimney cap in my near future..

Barrow's Goldeneye
Bufflehead
Common Goldeneye
Common Merganser
Hooded Merganser
Wood Duck

I once heard of a mallard in a chimney, but don't completely trust the source. Or maybe it somehow flew down it and got stuck.

Mallards nest up off the ground to . I've seen them in howel trees 12' off the ground . Last year I seen a hen mallard nest in the attic of a two story condo

Several years ago I had a wood duck come down my chimney and go thru the pipe and into my wood heater!

One of my first calls was a merganser in a basement!
Came down through the chimney!

Must of been a hooded merganser . Sometimes I see them using my wood duck houses

Thats not funny Lt. Winkelmann is still sensitive about that. Of course he is happy she is gone or he would never have met his wife and live happily ever after.
