They are out and about here in Mass, but there is a noticeable difference in the numbers this year so far. Last year there was a bumper crop of them and this year I have seen maybe 3. Don't know if the lack of snow this winter was a factor in their survival, but that would be my guess. Little buggers probably froze in their burrows without any insulation above. But then again, the frost also didn't get very deep this year, maybe a foot and a half at the most. So not real sure on the reason for the decline.

Pesky, if it makes you happy, we're behind in chipmunks too. Never fear, if we're still behind in August, I'll let you know!

P.S. Warmest March and crappiest April, what do you expect?

Nice , if it's a female box it up and send it to me , I still haven't seen one . Normaly the chipmunk jobs wont come till everybody has there landscape in . The summer time mostly . I also get them in houses at times . My moms big on the flower garden thing has flowers spread out over 2acres . Keeps her active I say . She's at war with them little devils . I was eating dinner with this wonderful lady the other day and we got talking about them. she's the one that said she hasn't seen any . I got to thinking I haven't ether . It's been 85 - 70 for a few more days here but still no sightings . I would think with the warm winter there would be more , but now that I think about it . The upper Michigan area has more chipmunks than you can shake I stick at . They must do better in a cold climate . I guess I've never looked at the chipmunk and what there needs are because there just always around . I'm sure they will rebound quickly

Dint know they had chipmunk in ga . It could be a new strain for up here and cross breed with ares , make a hybrid chipmunk . I'll send a box . I'll line the box with hardware cloth and send money so you can buy a bag of apples . The apples will give them food and water for there trip .
