I came home this morning to find a pail full of old traps by my front door. Some typical #0's and #1 LS, an old Victor #4 LS along with a Newhouse #81. I have quite a few of the other traps but this is the first time I have seen an 81 in person. It's in excellent condition with a very strong spring but missing the ring off the chain. It's clearly been a user trap but the writing on the pan is clear. Any ideas as to value? Thanks!
That's a nice gift. They come with a solid web and one with holes in the web. An 81 in complete good shape is approximately $75. Excellent shape up to twice that. I don't think finding a ring wouldn't be to much of a problem. Just the time to get it in the chain. There are some folk on here that probably have some laying around.

I thought it was a very nice gift too and didn't think the ring was a big deal. Interested in finding out who gifted it to me so I can thank them properly.
