The overall length of the trap is 34 1/4 inches the Springs are a little over 13 inches clearly marked "S. NEWHOUSE KENWOOD NEW YORK ,Any idea of the age ? I've been told that the rest of the Trap was homemade appears to be Hand Forged many years ago with a 6-foot 4-inch chain also Hand Forged. I wonder why they changed with the smooth instead of teeth and any ideas or collectability amongst trappers would be nice to know more about this, thank you in advance.

Can someone tell me why the jaws of the trap have no teeth to grip ? Are the smooth on other traps for bears ? Would they be able to hold ? Thanks
