Old Newhouse

I found this trap and I am hoping to find out the approx. age. The pan is marked S Newhouse Onieda Community NY the letters are on the outside of the pan and the words follow each other in a continuous line; the rest is illegible, the spring is stamped and it appears to be a No 2 size-------Thanks for any info.------Tom

Yes, your trap would be a #2, that is the only size Newhouse that I have seen the pan with the continues lettering that fallows all the way around. Your trap has a forged spring, I also have this model with machine or sheet metal springs. Your trap is missing a spring, it should have two. I would date your trap to right around 1870. Nice find.
