Sorry no pics, I'm dumb when it comes to that. Picked one up recently and its nice, great shape, and all correct in my mind, has what I would call rivoted shark teeth and can see the bronz around them. Just curiouse what range of value everyone thought....

Hi Bonehunter,
Ive owned six or seven riveted toothed Newhouse No.5 bear traps. I've kept two of the different ones. During this time period everything wasn't as generic as later traps. My two traps have different types of jaw posts, one that looks cast and the other hand forged. I use Andreski and Parr's price guide. It says there is and early #5 that is completely hand forged that is valued at $9000.00 to $15,000. A later model is valued at $2,250 to $1,700. On these last two models the swivel on the chain is three links from the base link. There is another model, however, the teeth are cast. The early Blake and Lamb bear traps sometimes are lightly stamped on the pan or not readable at all. There are differences in the two traps, but when your new at traps make sure you don't have a trap that is not a Newhouse but might be something that is valued at a lot more money.

This trap hasn't been tampered with or broken apart, near as I can tell..

If I have time later this week I'll take some pics and figure out how to post or email them to someone.
