Why would this trap have a spring stamped Canada and a pan stamped New York? Is this common or questionable?

The trap has obviously been apart. See where the jaws set in the frame? Does that look tight and right to you? The jaws have been sprung out of that frame. The MADE IN CANADA spring was placed on that trap purposely to drive the price up so some unsuspecting person pays a big price. Which is exactly what is happening.
