#4 is a hard size to find but again condition is everything. Really need to see the trap.

Picked this All Steel No 4 up from a fur buyer in Wyoming years ago.

Great trap Don. They don't come much better than that.

Hi Don,
This may be a brother to the #4 All Steel that you have, at first I thought it might have been the same trap, not knowing if you still had yours, but after looking at the two closer, they are two different traps. When you consider they are both close to 125 years old, they have been well taken care of through the years, which is remarkable, considering they were trapping traps before the became collector traps. The one I have came off eBay a few years back.
By the way, nice trap Don, thanks for showing it.

Thanks, That is a very nice trap too. If you have any other Oneida All-Steel traps please post pictures of them. Very hard to find one with readable pan.

Don, I have a set of Oneida All Steel traps but like you said finding one with a good readable pan is tuff. My #3 is my nicest and the #0 I think is the hardest to get. I really like the cast ring and wedge combination on the #1 1/2. Oneida Community made them in 3 sizes, #0, 1 and 1 1/2. The others I have are on Hawley & Norton and The Victor traps.

Nice All Steel traps. I've only owned two number 4's and one 1 1/2. None had stamping as nice as your traps.

Re: All steel traps - 04/30/16 05:05 PM

Here are some very hard to find traps. They are the same Oneida All Steel trap but marked The Sure Grip, Belmont Steel. Made by Oneidas Community, the regular The Sure Grip is a Victor trap with regular jaws. They also made a dog less The Sure Grip with regular jaws.

The Belmont's are a very tuff group to assemble. I could have bought some off of Jim Stewart years ago but did not.
