How do you display traps?

I have a Victor number four with sentimental value, three 14s, and two 114s in awesome shape. How do you guys display your traps?

I am using them for antique decor in a house I am building, and was wanting some ideas to think about. I have wall space, but just was wondering about a nice presentation.

Bulldozerjoe had a post on here awhile back and some pretty good ideas were shared.
If you have wall space and the missus is agreeable, just hang them up by the chains.

Hanging by chains is what I do now. I was just looking for ideas is all.

I have a peeled beaver stick that i hang mine from. Some hang off the fireplace mantle by nails

I mostly hang mine by the chain as well but I am running out of wall space and have been resorting to piles on the floor. I have them grouped by brand and model. Some day I would like to add on and make my display room double the size. I also have taxidermy and a few live rattlesnakes.

Dean, that is an incredible collection and organized display. (Except for the rattlesnake part).

Back when I collected I just had them hanging by the ceiling. After I got rid of them all my garage got 8 inches taller.

This thread was started about three years ago. I've accumulated a few more since then. I just gotta work on the organization and display part a little more

WOW! I've read your posts on TM's Trap Collectors Forum and before I ever saw your photos, knew that you were a guy with some DEEP knowledge of old traps, especially Newhouse! No BS, just straight answer, backed with experience.

I'm 76 and have a 55 year collection of Pre-64 Winchester rifles and shotguns, and have them displayed in my den. Every morning in go in there to check my computer for mail, and do our banking, and have to stop and look around and wonder what stories some of these guns could tell.

I noticed the desk in your "cave", and I'm sure that you do the same thing. What most non-collector never realize, is the amount of work it takes to ferret out the stuff we collect. I have to add that besides the hard work, there's a great amount of LUCK involved to just be in the right place, with the financial mean at the time, to consummate the purchase.

I'm sure that you feel that, although you know the value of your collection, that's not the reason YOU COLLECT! I hate it when a close friend sees my collection for the first time and asks, "What's your most expensive gun?" I just look at him and explain that I really don't know!

I don't know my wife sees my collection and she says I need to put tags on all of them to what they are and what they are worth. Mmmmm I wonder what she's thinking?????

That pic right there is why trap collecting fits better for me than gun collecting!

I see these guys at the conventions, all their nice 1000-2000-4000 dollar bear traps on the table.....they don't sell, and you chuck them in the back of the truck, laying them in a pile. You can't hurt them!

Guns? You gotta hug them, squeeze them, oil them, caress them.......just not my style.

The easiest way to sort them would be to start by cutting all those dang chains off them. I would be willing to help you out with that old buddy.

Here's a way to display a Newhouse Community #5, Kenwood # 15, pat date #50, and 4.5 wolf. We all like pictures right?
