Body grip circle triggers

Well I'm kicking around the idea of putting some circle triggers on some of my belisle. Just the dry land traps, 160 and 110/120 size. Just wanting to see what your guys opinion was. Have you tried them? Did they help or hurt? Just looking to see if some of yall had good or bad results!

I put them on 220's for coon cubby boxes. I think there's less refusals and they seem to work well.

I never tried them but I think they would be good for otter on dry crossover sets.
Otter have a habit of avoiding trigger wires on dryland sets especially 330's
A couple sticks inside the jaws helps.

On otter traps I make a circle trigger with wire attached to existing triggers.

I lay the trigger wire ends on a steel block and smash the ends flat. Doing this will keep your wire from sliding off. I use a very thin copper wire. Just wrap the wire around the trigger wires and your good to go. If you want to remove It just unwrap It. I use It for rats and mink on 160s.

Beav that sounds pretty good too. A fella could even put a drop or 2 of solder on each end and make it hold real good. What kinda wire you using and where you getting it if you don't mind me asking.

Got some of that fine copper wire from True Value hardware We call It stop and rob around here. You could solder It but I don't think It's needed.

I love circle triggers

When I teach snaring.I' tell all my students that animal dose not want to touch his nose or ears on anything. There for centers his face in the center of the snare loop.
also I have caught more incentail mink and muskrat in 330's with circle triggers . I figger they use the bottom of the trigger to kick off on.

Lynx love to put their heads thru loops.
When I get a live one in a foothold,I dispatch it with a snare on a pole. I just slowly place the loop right in front of its face and it will put its head thru the circle.
If I trapped lynx in boxes with 330s like some guys do I would go with the circle trigger.

I wish we could just snare in the right of way, would make things alone easier lol guess I'm gonna try the circle triggers. Probably gonna try a few RBGs too!

Have never used circle triggers.
But a thin wire between the spread trigger wires is all i use on my bottom edge 110 mink sets.
i dont see why this wouldn't work on bigger animal dry sets

Circle triggers for above water BG's has been my biggest success improvement in the last many years. Make them easily from 120mm black bicycle spokes for 155's and down and from support wires for holding up insulation between joists for 160's and up. Takes less than 5min to make one. They work the best for me with the trigger dog at the bottom so as they try to go thru head or back of animal more easily moves the trigger. I have made squared hoop stands that hold BG this way. Long ones to push in ground, short ones to stand in plywood bases for on ice or frozen ground. I have tried every other trigger configuration(except circles) for dry trail mink for years with meager success. Finally tried a couple and last two seasons with the custom stands 10 test sets took ten mink in a three week run. Two small mink passed thru without being caught(good thing to me-tracks in snow). This was late season testing at crossing trails in snow after most local mink trapper quit. Too bad mink are all but now worthless. Tracks have shown only one mink refused to try to pass thru trigger. More than half the mink could go thru trigger or back up and push around trap without getting caught if trap was positioned dog on top in early testing. They have proven they're worth to me for above water. They are real rabbit getters too. As well as anything that has been able to get its head in a 155 or 160 so far.

I have used circle and wire triggers for BG's for a long time. Both work but the wire took me longer to remove a catch (incidental muskrats) so i don't use the wire between trigger wires on 110-160's. Use triggers on the bottom on almost all my BG's with nothing but a shaped semi-v or sloppy-L. so the less mod the better for me (beaver, rats, mink, & coon). Just easier for the remake and I get no "slipping through" or "refuse to enter" like some folks do. My experience......................... the mike
