Auger Bit For Rotary Hammer Drill

Auger Bit For Rotary Hammer Drill - 10/04/19 01:31 PM

Does someone make an auger bit that will fit the slotted chuck teeth on a rotary hammer drill?

I currently use a 1/2" cordless drill, with an auger bit that has a 3/8" shank. Upgrading to a rotary hammer drill.

Not enough information.Exactly what type of bit does your tool use?

I went to Harbor Freight and bought a cheap SDS bit, cut the end off and welded to my auger. Done deal.

Sorry Taxi...it's an SDS Plus Masonry bit for use in frost/hard ground. Shank has slots milled lengthwise in it (for the sds chuck). Taxi-it's the same setup you use, just a Millwaukee. Was just wondering if there is an auger bit with the sds shank.

LDW-great idea. I'll start chasing a couple down, and do the same. Thanks!

Whatever you do, Bosch bits are far superior to Dewalt!

I bought a keyless chuck that is made to snap in to the SDS Plus chuck on the rotary hammer.I just leave the keyless chuck attached to the auger.Sorry,I can't post pictures right now.

That's ok Taxi...I saw them on Amazon, when I was searching.

A lot of the cheap ones had bad reviews, so I couldn't decide which one to try. If you like yours, and it's working good, let me know which one it is, and I may go that route. Yours accepts up to 1/2", I'm assuming, correct?

Yukonal,my 2 chucks are Bosch and have worked well.I paid $35 each,a few years ago. That is still ch
eaper than having an SDS Plus auger built.

And yes,they are 1/2" chucks.
