Just about that time of year. We can start laying steel on Sunday. I am going to try to keep about 2 dozen sets out all season and move em around this year. When do yous start?
You beat me to starting this thread! This is a pretty bobcat I caught on Monday 10/28/19 on an ADC job for my oldest brother. No more chickens for you old tom! Caught him (my second ever tom) in a BMI #2 at a charred stump set near a chicken house with Okie brand Red Fox urine and Wayne Derrick's (wayne52 on here) "Pecos Valley Cat Call."
Caught the skunk on Wayne Derrick's "Cat Gland" lure and some bobcat urine at a rub set. The young dog 'yote was caught at a dirt hole with Okie brand Fish Oil, Winter "Smoke House Predator Bait", Caven's "Canine Force" and a lure we got from a T-man member who goes by the name of "CJT Outdoors."
I caught my first ever 'con on the 4th and my second on the 5th! Wow, FINALLY!!! I've caught coyote, bobcat, fox, skunk, etc, but never a 'coon, but now I FINALLY got some! One was in a Z-trap the other was in a Duke DP.
Well on Friday I got my first coyote of the season! An old female (jip) caught in a fully modified Bridger #3 at a feather set with chicken feathers, Okie brand "Vantage" bait, foreign bobcat scat with Payne "Kitty-Kitty" lure, and a touch of Winter Wildlife Control "Secret Sauce" lure.
Then on Saturday I caught this gorgeous tom bobcat (my 3rd ever tom) at the remake from the above coyote. I remade the set as a dirt hole with Okie brand "Vantage" predator bait, and Wayne Derrick's "Caprock Call" & "001."
Got a double on our coldest morning so far. My season has been open for a few weeks. Pipe dream sets are the best I have found for bad weather. We had snow a few days then cold then rain and sets still.working when it was around 10 last night.

A.T., looks like your trapping skills are improving as you get more practice. Keep it up! Just remember to keep your head down and your eyes open when trapping. Don't just look, learn to see! Once you learn basic trapping skills, which you obviously have, reading and understanding the clues that your target animals leave behind will help you to become a better trapper more than just about anything else you can learn. Of course, the lack of snow in our part of the country makes it a little more difficult than than in some other places. Good luck and have fun on your line! Don Hightower

Has anyone ever trapped a hooded skunk? Caught at a double dirt hole in an old Victor #3 modified using Winter Wildlife Control "Bait #2", Weiser's "Liquid Fox & Coyote Bait", and Wayne Derrick's "Tombstone" lure.
Got this nice female in November in a modified Duke #2 o/s at a 2 scat set using Reuwsaat's "Bobcat Pro Shot" urine, Payne's "Kitty-Kitty" gland lure, & Dobbin's "Purrrfect" gland lure!
The day after I got that female I nailed a nice tom at a urine post (the 'post' was a bleached bone) in a fully modified Duke #1.75 using Okie brand Red Fox urine, Graham's "Exciter" fox gland lure.
On the remake from the above 'cat I nailed this purdy female 'yote. It was a dirt hole set using Mark June's "Widowmaker" bait, & Peterson's "Red Fox Gland Lure."
Last Saturday I 'handed out a Victor #3 coilspring bracelet' to another female 'yote at a urine post (actually the 'post' was a rock!) using Wayne Derrick's "One Leg Up" coyote urine, coyote scat (forgein), Okie brand "Sweet & Sassy" gland lure, & Wojtach's "Coyote Gland Lure."
I got a few traps out yesterday, hopefully I be able to spend all day tomorrow putting more out. This morning there was a fox sitting a few yards from my trap in a field when I drove by. Hopefully he'll come back and I'll get him tomorrow

Nothing yet for me. Set about two dozen sets today, hopefully I'll get something in the next few days. The 10" of snow we have has made it a little tricky
On the 18th. I caught my third ever grey fox, a male,
at - what we call- a "Broken Bone Set" using Okie "Vantage" predator bait, Weiser's "Liquid Fox & Coyote Bait", SLIM'S "Predator Terminator" lure, and Okie brand Red Fox urine, in a Duke #1 3/4, o/s, 4x4. It was a first night catch too!
I met Mr. Travis Chilson (he goes by "TravisC" on here) at a trapper's rendezvous this year and he gave me a new Duke 550. Well I nailed this mangy, tailless, dog 'yote on the 18th with it, at a charred stump set using Reuwsaat's "Bobcat Pro Shot" urine, Dobbin's "Purrrfect" & "K9-03". Thank you, Mr. Chilson!
Got this big 'dog on the 20th. in a Duke #2 o/s modified, at a mini-dirt hole, using Mark June's "Widowmaker" bait, & Fur Country Lure's "Excitor" fox gland lure.
Not gonna lie. I haven't even set a trap this year. I was planning on it and wish I had with all the yotes and fox I've been seeing. Been really busy with work and school so I just dont have the time
Sooo...a young man (16) contacted me last week and wants to start trapping. I've been helping him and we went out to his place one day and I showed him the basics of trapping. Well yesterday he got a skunk and a raccoon!

It doesn't matter what we get, we're hooked on the 1st one!
