Opening day turkey

Opening day turkey - 04/17/24 01:26 PM

21 lbs. 10 inch beard
This one is kind of special. Last Spring I had to have my pacemaker relocated from my left side to the right. That means I can no longer shoot right handed as I have done for 65 years. Left handed is awkward with safety on the wrong side, sighting, trigger pull, working the pump etc. Anyway, I got it done this morning. Luckily no follow up shot required. LOL

Great job on your opening day. We are getting spotty downpours down here. My season starts May 8, hope my luck is as good as yours.

I’m not a turkey fanatic but I pay attention to the people on here that are. Given the circumstances I wanted to avoid multiple shots so I broke down and bought some TSS shells. I’ve never had a big bird drop without a twitch like this one did. I’m a believer.

Congratulations. That is a fine bird.

When I was a Coast Guard Reservist, our combat firearms course required shooting from our strong and weak sides. Most people do not finch when shooting from their weak side.

Great job. Get you a single barrel with a hammer. Some have the breakdown release in front of the trigger guard. Never under stood lugging a heavy old pump around over the hills. Not many 2nd shots on turkeys. Not saying it don't happen so B&B don't smart off....

With decoys, second, third and even reloading shot are possible, lol. I’ve seen it. I agree about the weight, that’s why I tote around a youth model 20ga.

TSS is expensive, but there is a positive difference.
