Used Truck Market is Crazy... - 04/06/24 11:18 PM
I have not shopped for a vehicle in 10 years. These folks are too much, it is like a guy sitting behind a table with a for sale sign and a five dollar bill on the table....he will take $8 but not less....if you offer him $5 he says your a no good low baller..some funny stuff.
Guess I will have to buy at an auction.

Every couple weeks I get an email from the jeep dealer wanting to buy the jeep I bought 3 years ago. I thought demand had slowed some but apparently not

Prices for used under 100K are very much inflated. I been looking of a year and a half and ended up ordering a Ford Maverick last Aug. 2023. It is shipped and will be here end of Apri. 27K and some change so it became the best way to go for me. I hate to buy new, but it ended up being cheaper.

In 2004 I bought a '99 Toyota 4x4, manual, 4 cylinder, Xcab with 68,000 miles for $10,000.
I'm now looking at a '98 Toyota 4x4, manual, 4 cylinder, Xcab with 120,000 miles that is priced at $12,000.

Motor in my 08 dodge dakota went bust after 250000 hard miles. A BUNCH of them out where two tracks are the main road. Spent about 1200 on some 4 wd repair a few years ago. Other odds and ends. Just bought a reman engine. Guy thats going to do it is going to start in a few days. I figure tranny will be next. Price of low mileage used stuff I am going to keep driving it.

Remains ain't cheap either.
Jasper wants 4k+ for an engine for my 91 e250. That is with tax, delivery and install kit but not the core charge.....then it still needs to be installed.

I got a little better price than that. Youngest daughter is the commercial accounts manager for a parts dealer. Put it on my credit card and got another 2%. Not sure what happens when the core charge gets credited back. May have to pay back that 2%.

It could be inflation @ work. Not an expert though.
