Re: earthquake - 04/05/24 04:37 PM

I was at the vet with two of my labs. we were in the exam room waiting for the doc when what felt like an unbalanced washer spinning started happening. I ask my wife, "What's shaking the building?"

She's joking around and says, "Maybe the eclipse started early."

It lasted 15-20 seconds. I was considering getting out of the building.

Kutztown, fifteen miles southwest of Allentown, PA.

Felt nothing where I am, nor the aftershocks being reported. About 70 miles north of NYC. Although others say they felt it.

Epicenter was about 35 miles from me. My son lives about 20 miles from center, pictures fell off his walls, glasses from cupboards and dresser drawers were opened.

Just got an aftershock here.

One of my toolboxes tipped over. Big crash.

I am hoping the box didn't get bent , which happens when they fall over loaded. Once bent , not fixable most cases.

Re: earthquake - 04/05/24 11:21 PM

Here on the south shore we never felt a thing, lady next town over said she thought a train was coming through her house and she ran outside screaming... but most folks just made fun of her, lol
My sister in law in AZ called all freaked out about it, I now call her chicken little.....

BUT!, the best I heard was that the quake was a precursor to the eclipse and the end of the world!.... These people breed!... cool

At 6 we had a pretty good aftershock.
For sure must be caused by climate change!!!! Either that or it is the fault of the previous president.

Update -

My toolbox survived. One drawer a bit tweaked but functional. Real glad I don't have to get a new one.

That is only some of my tools. I have somewhere around $40k-$50k in just non-powered hand tools. If you notice the Snap-On box next to the one that fell. But the Snap-On box stayed upright. Snap-On stands strong.....lol

Re: earthquake - 04/06/24 01:06 PM

I'm about 3 miles from the epicenter. When it first hit, sounded like a freight train coming through my shop. I have electrical pig tails hanging from the ceiling. They were dancing around like snakes. We have been having after shocks all day yesterday and a few this morning.. They are saying it could continue for a couple weeks.
