1 week wait for suppressors - 03/28/24 08:48 PM

The place we buy suppressors and such said the DOJ leaned on the ATF and turn around time on the paperwork is now about a week. Bet whatever is in stock goes fast.

About time. There should've never been such a delay.

For individuals trust are taking longer still but it's light speed on both compared to in the past. I need to drop a few stamps in the mail.

it is looking better and
my son was just explaining the single shot trust option from silencer central every suppressor has it's own trust this way.
so they all process independently any if say you let your brother borrow one for hunting season you can put him on the trust with a single form and he is on only for that one suppressor and it is just a paperwork to file not needing approval for letting him use it for the week.

I can add and remove people from my trust and don't file a thing to do so.

you print off the form fill it out , send a copy with them and file the other in your records , yes?

but if you have a trust with multiple items and people each time you add an item everyone goes through the fingerprint and background check don't they ?

It would be better if you didn't need a stamp.

Yeah the wait time is within a week but that is only if you purchase as an individual. Purchasing through a trust still takes a long time. Apparently, they are working to speed that up as well.

it would be great if they dropped
suppressors
short barrel rifles and short barrel shotguns form NFA1934 it was bad legislation from the get go

SBR and SBS are there because they had it all in to ban handguns and SCOTUS told them that would kill it. then they forgot to take out the things they did to try and close up pistols by making short rifles or shotguns illegal.

then realizing they messed up in 1936 they had to change 22 rifles to 16 inch barrels lots of them out there a very common household gun
then in 1968 after the US government sold many thousands of M1 carbines with a 17 inch barrel they dropped all rifles to 16 inch

also in 1936 they made exceptions to allow AOW a 5 dollar registration of shotguns that started life with a barrel shorter than 18 inches as Ithaca had made their defender with a short barrel for a few years before 1934 and they were popular with the well connected.

flawed from the beginning , the US government was the biggest offender of it . always a double down and little change never accepting it was wrong

take the win on short process time and buy what you want , if for some reason it were to get struck down highly unlikely then great you wasted a little cash , most of us have probably wasted more on less.

Green county you just remove the people from the trust until the new items are approved then put them back on.
There is nothing to file when adding and removing.

Re: 1 week wait for suppressors - 03/29/24 11:35 PM

I asked which was quicker trust or single , feller said private, I then asked about adding my sons on it
Said just do it after you receive the silencer, rules have been modified for additions after control of
Product, sounds like a selling speech, but I bought it any way !

Not a question of money, it's the principle. Just government control, people should be pushing the hearing protection act, not jumping through all the hoops and considering them selves lucky when the Gov. allows them to have something that in and of itself is harmless.

As common as suppressors are now, gotta ask, how many people have been stopped by a Law Officer and were asked to see this b.s. document?

And what are the ramifications if caught without the document?

It would be interesting to know this answer. I took a pic of mine to keep on my phone.

I was asked to see my paperwork once. 1st I don't have to show it because it's a tax document and they can't ask to see my taxes. But it's not worth the trip downtown so I showed my mini copy's of my forn 4s without any objections. Then the cop tried to tell me he needed to see the originals. At that point I clearly told him he was incorrect he didn't like being told he was wrong or feeling like I was questioning his powers. It got a little unfriended but eventually he made enough called and got a supervisor out the knew more of the law and was told he was wrong and back off and down. I went on my way shortly there after.
