Hide paint ?

I have some tanned beaver I'd like to paint maps of the river on. Then hoop them on willows for gifts. Does anyone have recommendations for a type of paint that works good on leather?

Water based acrylics diluted to half. Will actually penitrate into the leather and last forever.
