Burbs, crappie and lake trout

Burbs, crappie and lake trout - 03/16/24 11:28 PM

Went out after work and hammered the burbot and the laker. Had to boat two dozen.

Caught some crappie this morning, then pulled the boat out because it's going to get super cold.

Kept quite a few burbot after I discovered they are great smoked!

Back when I worked in a fish market in the city. We used to get smoked cod, from eastern Canada. If I remember right, my mother , cooked the fillets in milk, poached , They were Quite good . They weren"t smoked until dry . Still quite moist.

We also brought in salt cod, sold this mostly , to down easters. Kippers , herring fillets, were another favorite . salty but good to chew on. Great catches Hutchy ,keep them coming. old243

When I was a kid...our next door neighbors were French and had a lot of family in Nova Scotia and Canada.

And they would hand out this dried ..salty ..fish.

I nevah knew what it was...but it was good.

Must have been salt cod...chew on that stuff for hours...lol

You are definitely a fishing guru but then again you put in your time and it’s like trapping locations, location, location, great catch

Lots of guys struggle to catch fisher, and I always say you can't catch them if there aren't any around.

I'm lucky to live in a place where there are lots of opportunities
