Marine Tries Iron Site Black Jack Challenge - 03/15/24 03:04 AM

So here the deal. Ole Eric is a world champion shooters ( legit has the trophy and everything) and on his channel he stared doing a little shooting challenge at 500yd with a KYL target ( know your limits, basically just a plate rack with smaller and smaller targets). Now at first it was just fun but witch about any shooting video you put on line involving a half dect gun and and set up , eveyone and there mom was in the comments talking about how why could do it and how easy it would be ! The main one however where the Marines yapping about qualifying at 500m WITH IRON SITES !
So Eric being the Chad he is, made a offer of $5,000 to anyone who can clean the rack with irons.its been....seven videos now and all those comments have basically stopped and no one has taken the bet till now ....and we'll....... I'll give it to the guys with the Mosin they have some balls coming , unlike 90% of crap talker online grin

Is it a bet or a reward for doing it it ? Heck if no cost sign me up

Re: Marine Tries Iron Site Black Jack Challenge - 03/15/24 03:40 AM

that was some garbage ammo
I think 6 failures to fire between the two of them
they were relatively close to that 12 inch plate all around it with no hits

I have done 500 and I am sure I could hit the 12 and the 10 maybe even the 8 and 6 with the scoped rifle but when you get down to 4 and 2 that would be the issue

irons I need something big enough to see and I am sure I can't see 2 inches at 500 yards

now you have me thinking I need to get my 4 inch plate and hang it up at 500 and see if I can get it with the scoped rifle

2 inch target at 100 takes some careful shooting with open sights. i think cortana gets tired of the bragging in comments on his videos.

I think I would try it with my Mauser 8mm that came back from Germany. 2" at 100? In like one try? That'd be tough but I'd give it a go.

Grandpa used to shoot dogs with it back at the woods from the pump house. 300+ with open sites. Those Mausers have that ramp yardage site thinger.

I can't give the boys with the Mosin any credit as they didn't have a chance. They just came for the screen time.

Is there a reason they used garbage ammo?

Do u think the results would have been any different if they would have used the best ammo

they said they tried several types found the one that worked the best then went back to buy more of it and not only was it out so were all but the brand they bought and they only had like 4 boxes of that.

More consistent at the very least

With that kind of quality control on the weapon and ammo, how did the Soviets beat the Germans. Obviously, the Germans had the superior weapon. The Mauser action has been copied by many gun manufactures; my pre-64 Model 70s have the Mauser action.

they were all around that 12" plate so maybe they would have hit the 12 and 10 if they had something consistent

like 3 duds each 6 total in what like 60 rounds

supply and the US

so I guess to answer lots of people men and women fighters and US supplies sent through Alaska

there were also better ammo and better rifles

the Fins figured out how to accurize a Mosin quite well and make their own better ammo.
they would shorten the barrel 2 inches and recut the crown and ream the chamber , re-barrel if it was in bad shape and use better sights and free float the barrel under the hand guard
the M28 and M39 were good examples of this

Let me get back to you after I get some laser eye surgery done, lol. Maybe once I could have hit some of those targets but today I couldn't see 'em.

Appeared the guy in the video couldn't see em either.

We had some poor QC during the war too. I've got several 1942 GI brass with the primer hole drilled (punched?) off center. These were loaded when I got them.
War time expedient, I imagine the Russians were putting out anything that would make a bang.
