Apparently there are many trapped people. A trailer park was totally destroyed. The lake has many canals that were dug to access the docks for thousands of trailers and cabins

The tornado passed 1.6 miles South East of me. I could hear it for about 3 minutes. The ridge behind us sheltered us. A taxidermist friend of mine called and texted me. He filmed rotation where he lives near Deleware, Ohio. Another friend of his probably lost his house.

I've fished and stayed at Russels Point, an area that was just destroyed at Indian Lake, many times. My mom's friend had a weekend getaway trailer there.

How big of community is this? I remember those when I lived in Omaha as a kid. Don’t miss them.

The area around Indian Lake is mostly flat, corn and bean fields, with a scattering of small towns. The lake at Indian Lake is small. The lake was originally well under 700 acres. It's now approaching 6000 acres. People keep digging out more canals, to build docks on, that feather out through small trailer parks and small lots of cabins. The trailers are mostly small, fairly new and well kept. Most trailer parks are gated and have pools, playgrounds, a lodge and other amenities. The lake is very shallow. There is near constant dredging projects going on. The water is mostly dark chocolate brown and in warm weather, often goose crap green. It's not a a nice lake, but it's very popular. . During the week the population is probably in the thousands. On nice weekends the population probably goes up into the tens of thousands. Warm weather holiday weekends are pretty wild.

Saugeye and crappie fishing can be pretty decent in the older parts of the lake during the Spring. There's way to much boat traffic and cormarants.

I am glad your place is ok and I hope they can get to the survivors quickly.

I've worked tornado damage for many years and they scare the (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) right out of me.

Common here where I live. Im in a valley...usually go over me and drop barns and houses nearby. Indian lake is one of our haunts. Honda transmission plant near there.
After many typhoons in Philippines these are mild to me. Lost everything twice. Hope the people trapped got rescued.
Wonder what Ill see outside after sunup.

Ohio boy thanks for the video, bring back memories from being overseas for ten years. Yes you do get used to them and overconfident. We also had the earthquakes that lasted for 30 and more minutes. The whole SEAsia area was just constant weather (rained a lot too) related problems.....j

Ohio isn't exactly Tornado alley. Apparently you get them somewhat regularly? Hey was, I grew up in Omaha too. Well remember the air raid sirens going off for tornado warnings. Remember one going through south Omaha in the 60s.

western part of the state gets hit fairly often. nothing like how states farther west gets hit though. My part gets one every 5-10 years. maybe a good straightline wind every other year or so. We have real hills. had a twister hit roughly a mile away but could barely see the tornado because it was behind a hill.

The Xenia 1974 tornado is the more infamous hit as it was a F5.

Went looking into some history and apparently we had an F5 near where I live in 68.

going through wiki history, ohio has had 8 official or possible F5s

Every spring there is a tornado, a tornado that didn't' touch down, or a storm that makes the tornado sirens go off.

It doesn't have to be in tornado alley to be devastating.

After seeing Mayfield Ky hammered a couple years ago, this seems hauntingly familiar.

My heart goes out to the folks there in Ohio, and hope for the same national response from everyday people pitching in to help the victims.

So far there are only 3 dead and 25 injured. It was good thing it wasn't a warm, sunny weekend or the casualties would be much, much worse. Indian Lake is mostly empty during the week in cool weather. People mostly hang out there on weekends.

tornadoes also touched down near wapakoneta, the findlay-bluffton area, and storms ravaged the counties and surrounding counties.
