Found this link about a young trapper learning the ropes kinda on his own. If the caribou don’t come around, you’re eating everything you catch. Another account of what breed of trappers they were in the old days. Took me quite a while to read every link, should be a book!

On that link also is Face the North Wind by A Karas , the whole book is there to read, it’s awesome!
