I would think so. I think the bullfrogs are better attracted to visual lures, like spinner bait blades. Not sure how scavenger-y they are for using bait. I guess you could use live crickets
Before you go any further in those sort of endeavors, Ya know , shrimp and food traps. Ask your captain if he is comfortable taking his tug into the kind of shallow backwater where you can set those things
Another thought. Don't you tanker boys have these big " NO SMOKING " signs plastered all over yer boats ??? I guess that does not include ribs and pulled pork ??
A lot of work for a few frogs. I think he got more fish by volume with the net a little effort. I used to catch them with a small tribble hook baited with a small marsh mellow on a fly rod.
