Try snares or sweet lures in early season

Yes, snares 12-14 inches off the ground with loop 12-14 inches.

Check your regulations on size loop and hight. Snare are a great tool to catch coyotes but can get a guy into trouble real fast if you don't know your regulations.

10 inch loop 10 inches off the ground works well too

I just set the traps. If they get caught I release them.

Trap out the cats first, then they wont be buggering up your good coyote sets.

i’d say just use lighter pan tension and some strong coyote urine.

It is almost impossible to set canine footholds and not catch domestic cats. Anyone that has trapped a spell can tell you that.
It might be possible to wait until extremely cold weather with a bit of snow. The barn cats may not venture too far during real cold weather, but that is not a guarantee.

Lighter pan tension? To catch more cats?
Coyote urine? you think that cats will shy from that smell?

Make cats everyday? Good fuel for those against trapping.

Good Lord gentlemen.

The snaring hints make the most sense.
Good luck.

This borders on anthropomorphism.

Cable restraints with a dear stop and no entanglement. If you catch one it should be good to turn loose un harmed.

Gotta agree.

If your wildlife is disappearing, its probably your cats and not coyotes. If you have coyotes, your cats would soon disapear.

Cats running wild is worse than coyotes, imo.

I used to have a flock of quail. Then I got a cat. Then I quit jumping quail. Then the cat came up missing. Now the turkeys have come up missing. I've caught 9 bobcats and 1 coyote this year. Can't seem to catch many coyotes so I figure that next year the deer will come up missing. I don't know, it's a never ending cycle.

I remember Glen Sterling’s last demo , he said he was trying to catch a mountain lion and was running 17# of pan tension trying to avoid coyotes . He was still having coyotes plugging up his lion sets.

The point is crank UP the pan tension, 6 pounds will likely keep most cats safe . If you catch a cat turn it loose .

Plenty ways to make up your mind on whether you want cats or yotes

Is no one understanding that these cats are his pets?

And so we're the 3 I caught on my farm this year that got released. Funny caught 4 coyotes and a bobcat but still have cats and rabbits and quail. O and groundhogs. 2 less groundhog since they made it into traps. They were not released like all the cats were and are doing fine.

Other than snares and crazy high pan weight you are going to have a hard time not catching a cat now and then.

Use traps with thick offset jaws and maybe Small traps like ,mb 450.

Yea, I do but unless he eliminates the yotes and bobcats he won't have them for long. My cat was my best friend, only friend actually. He used to go with me on my walk every morning. Came when I called. The yotes or bobcats got him one night. Been on a mission ever since.
