Colorado Fur Sale Results - 02/12/24 09:18 PM

Always a good read on the current market unfortunately due to the anti trap movement they are not publishing results as far as I can see. Can someone explain why ?

Re: Colorado Fur Sale Results - 02/13/24 12:27 AM

You are correct on that. If you know someone connected to the sale personally, give them a call and they'll tell you. It was a very good sale.

Re: Colorado Fur Sale Results - 02/13/24 12:33 AM

No matter how well they control the publication of the sale results, the antis will get them.

Just about every other state - Utah, Idaho, Nevada, New York, Indiana - publish their results.

By Colorado not publishing them, makes me think they have something to hide and are using the antis as an excuse.

Other trapping associations are transparent - why can’t Colorado be transparent too?

Imagine that will hurt their sales in future years.

I know your connected. Can you explain why ? I am not looking for all the details but the answer has always been vague unless you are connected you would not know like most of us on trapperman . I know how to get some of the results and who to call but I really would like to know why it's not published here.

Check your PMs I sent you one a couple hours ago.

Re: Colorado Fur Sale Results - 02/13/24 01:27 AM

Can you send me also please, I didn't make it this year. I didn't even get a set out until after the drop off date haha.

Re: Colorado Fur Sale Results - 02/13/24 01:30 AM

Got the PM. Idaho has decided to take over the fur marketing similar to what Colorado fur sales did and in the long run it will do nothing to help Colorado and can only hurt. The funds will not be there to help fight the antis as much as they were I would think.

Secret squirrel games for all, guess we'll be hiding in caves next and scratching on rocks to communicate. Guess the anti's already won.

I believe that is correct in colorado. They moved to Hamilton, Montana and I will fight till I die to keep them from winning here.

Re: Colorado Fur Sale Results - 02/13/24 11:15 AM

Colorado is a big beautiful AG state controlled by a small metro block of voters.

Similar to the United States.

They have more Cali style fruits&nuts anti consumption of wildlife usage legislation coming at them than any state in the nation.

One of the main levers the nut jobs use to win at the ballot box is " the commercialization of wildlife" .

That plays well to the ignorant masses.

How can you be so arrogant as to criticize the CTA, when you know neither the context of the battle they're in, nor the strategy needed to win that battle.

We'd have a fighting chance if fur harvesters would learn to point all their ammo down range, instead of at each other.

Re: Colorado Fur Sale Results - 02/13/24 11:29 AM

Get all that and is probably the best way to handle it BUT you can't hide a fur auction! It's the same as fighting with NTA for years about their finance's, they were and still are convinced they have kept them hidden from the evil anti's even after i carried their very own IRS tax records into the meeting to show them anyone can find out what they have if they wish! Only people they are keeping in the dark about it is their very own members!

I just won't ever feel good about hiding from anti's, why I said if it's like this they've already won!

Re: Colorado Fur Sale Results - 02/13/24 12:42 PM

I sent a fair amount of fur to the CO auction. I'm not concerned what the averages were, or whether they put them online. Only thing I look forward to is what my fur brought.

"One of the main levers the nut jobs use to win at the ballot box is " the commercialization of wildlife" ."

That will be a tough one to hide. I don't hide it. I explain how this is how I earn income to support my family. I can't hide it. I wonder where them tree huggers think their salmon and halibut, and king crab come from?

P.S. The Irs even has business activity codes for your schedule C

114110 - Fishing
114210 - Hunting & trapping

Amazing!

Re: Colorado Fur Sale Results - 02/13/24 04:12 PM

Seems like trying to hide the commercial aspect of trapping is rather short sighted. Sounds like a good way to end up with laws that allow you to kill nuisance animals with the stipulation that the pelts be destroyed.

Now I'm wondering who came up with this particular strategy.

If anyone wants info, pick up the phone and call the auction manager. No one on this site has anything to do with the auction from an agent or management position.

Do this please. I’ve sold there for years and will continue to. This is the first year in 4-5 years that I haven’t helped them check fur in. Sure missed going out there.

Re: Colorado Fur Sale Results - 02/13/24 04:49 PM

Maybe this is the proposed ban?

“The North American Model for Wildlife Conservation says you are not supposed to kill wildlife for commerce and that’s exactly what’s being done in Colorado. It’s giving all ethical and fair chase hunting a black eye,” Marshall said. "

You learn something new everyday. I guess we have been doing this wrong for ever.

It's been like that for a while and we certainly had the best sale from what I could tell again this year of any in North America.

I see the light bulb going on over your head! Of course I'm just teasing, but that is the way it is in Colorado! Instead of pro-active management of furbearer populations in the winter when the fur is prime and the fur can be utilized, we kill them during warm weather when the critters are actively annoying people, and then throw their pelts in the garbage. This prevents someone from wearing the fur. It makes sense to the anti and environmental crowd, but not to someone who believes in preventing waste of wildlife. They promote plastic, oil based faux fur, just what we need for more plastic pollution. Don't try to make sense to them, this is their religion (remember the "Golden Calf" story in the bible).

That is not what information that was sent to me. Beaver and skulls were good and the rest not so much. But we can't prove it here since we have no results.

Ok Joe I'll bite, Let's just say this last sale the coyote average was $15.00 with 1000 coyotes offered. what are you going to learn from that? Without a detailed description of what was there it means nothing.

Todd, Charles Portis said "What have you accomplished when you best fools". That was a famous line out of the movie "True Grit".

It’s ok to destroy native habitat to commercialize urban sprawl. That’s different. Once and done, wildlife is extinct. It isn’t as obvious > to some<

yes you are right tom but when you hear nothing you dont know if it even sold and a price of 1 dollar average or 50 dollar average will give you a little idea 1 dollar means no one bid 50 means there might have been more than 1 buyer wanting it

Colorado had fur from 15 states this past sale. A Majority of it from Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, some from North Carolina, Missouri, Mississippi. How would you like to figure that out, an explanation would be nice. Two small lots from Wyoming and very little from Colorado. Maybe 70% of the cats from Oklahoma alone. Explain to me how to digest that?

With our Democrat Governor, House and senate, I'm afraid you may be right. All haters of hunters, trappers and even fisherman at times.
