6.5 grendal to 22-250 - 02/12/24 12:05 AM

I picked up a live round at the gun range awhile back. Pulled the bullet and lubed the case. Ran it into my 22-250 resizing die. Looks fine. Caliper says its good. Needs trimmed a bit. Just bored and messing around. Think next weekend I will put a light powder charge and bullet in it to fire form it. No particular reason except an experiment.

6.5 Grendel or 6.5 crudmoor?
The Grendel case, no way in a 22-250. Case is too short, by almost a half inch, case diameter is too small at the base.
Creedmoor case, maybe.

I have never done this. But it looks like the rim of the case is where you would have problems. I know your need an AR 10 platform to run a 250, but can run the 6.5 in a 15.

Yep. I said it wrong. Creedmore not grendel. The case on the right was the creedmore case. Look at the base. They are different. Makes me wonder what that will do to pressure.

Smoke a doobie, drink a few beers, review your will and have at it.

With a lite load I think you’ll be fine, I would wear a face shield in case you have blow back from a failure of some kind but I think your action would hold it.

Years and years ago. On Snipers Hide. We figured out 6.5 Creedmore could be made out of 22-250 brass or 243 brass. WHY??? Well at the beginning. Only Hornady brass was available for 6.5 creedmore. So anything over 2800 fps with a 140 ? 2 loads and primer falls out. So Take 22-250 Lapua brass. It’s hi pressure tested in Europe. We were getting 2950 fps out of 140s with it in the early days. You could use = 243 Lapua brass. It will hold even higher pressure than 22-250 Lapua. But you must= trim first. Resize. Then trim again to make 6.5 creedlore. No. Theirs no need cause Lapua and others have caught up. BUT in the day. We used it to get 140s to 3000 fps.
