2011 Silverado light bulb removal - 02/02/24 02:10 AM
Anyone got a good way to change these out without taking half the front end apart? Seems like some kind tool would make popping these out a lot easier. The passenger side low beam is impossible to get to even with my skinny arms.

My 11 Yukon is terrible to change. I pretty much just started pulling and prying and get in to change it

Check on YouTube. I'd be surprised if there isn't a video on there on how to change the bulb.

That’s what I posted. 4 long screws out of breather assembly unplug oxygen sensor remove hose clamps. Tug until air filter compartment snaps out. Twist bulb unplug it replace go in reverse. I’ve changed couple dozen it’s not as hard as you think

If it's the lower bulb on the passenger side it's a lot easier to take the air cleaner mounting plate off also. It's 4 more bolts after the steps jbyrd mentioned. A tool for removing door panels is handy for taking the plastic pins out that holds the cover on the back of the headlight assembly. I call it a panel popper. The pins are 2 pieces, the middle pulls out then the other one can be pulled.

Which is what I'm trying not to have to do.

I just spent better than 2 hours replacing the Daylight Running Light on the drivers side on a 2009 Chevy Tahoe. I knew it would be a job because I had already replaced the DRL on the passenger side a few years ago.
Repair manual says 2.4 hours to replace. 2.4 hours labor @ 80+ per hour to replace a $3.50 bulb. Ridiculous.
I don’t imagine it matters whether it is blinker, DRL, low or high beam replacement it is a real pain in the butt.
One has to love the engineers that design these.
I don’t think there is any shortcuts. It will just take time.
On a side note I bought this Tahoe from my father-in-law who must have had a light replaced at some time and I found the headlight assembly was broken by the last person that replaced a bulb. Just goes to show even the professionals screw up.

Super easy. It's a three minute job. You don't have to pull the lid to the air box or remove the air tube. Just loosen the air tube-to-airbox clamp, push the air tube out of the way, yank the entire air box out, and replace the bulb. Then slap it all back together. Easy peasy.

Wait until you get a 2013-2019 diesel!! Changing both sides. Have to remove the battery on drivers side. That can be fun depending on options.....
