Waxing in aluminum kettle

Waxing in aluminum kettle - 01/23/24 12:42 AM

So, we were cleaning out my wife's parents estate and I managed to snag an old heavy aluminum kettle, probably 18" in diameter and at least that deep. My thoughts were to use it for waxing traps using a turkey fryer burner, but first I'm going to boil some water in it with baking soda to help with any smells that may be in it. Anyone ever used an aluminum kettle instead of steel and had any issues? Currently I use a metal 5 gallon bucket I got brand new, but after a few years of use and heating/cooling the bottom seal is starting to seep

Used large aluminum ccooking pot for years....no problems. Careful not to scorch the wax and simply put the lid on when im finished and its ready for the next time.

I scored a heavy aluminum pot out of a dumpster a few years ago and use it to wax my traps. No issues with it.
