South Carolina Predator Control Opportunity - 01/22/24 02:34 AM

I have some predator control work for next winter (2024-25) in upstate South Carolina. It is too far for me to travel and bring all my gear, freezer, SxS, etc. It's 7 hrs from me. Plus, I'm just about burnt out on these type trapping jobs where I'm away from home for 2 weeks or more.

Here is what this will require of you:
* tracts are located between Columbia, SC and NC state line.
* two different landowners.
* two seperate tracts (500 acres + & 1000 acres +.
* predator control is what's needed (fawn and nest predators)...no beaver work.
* both jobs conducted simultaneously may pay as much as 5 to 6 grand upon completion.
* properties are intensively managed for wildlife (deer & turkeys).
* mostly timbered tracts with food plots and good road network.
* there is a possibility of nice lodging and skinning facilities (keep those bobcats and foxes in-season.)
*a good trapper may be invited to continue predator control in future years.
*12 to 14 consecutive trapping days needed to complete a good removal job.
*you should be able to trap both tracts simultaneously.
*you will need good coyote and bcat gear...at least 100 or more footholds.
*you will need good coon gear.....at least 100 or more DPs.
*soil conditions are mostly clay. Not real easy.
*an ATV or SxS is a bonus as weather may limit pickup truck access.
*be prepared to set properties heavy...not just a few road intersections.
*you MUST comply with all South Carolina trapping laws and regs.
*your trapping license cost can be included in your service charge.
*you MUST comply with the landowner's directions as to when and where.
*you MUST operate as a professional trapper at all times.
*provide landowners with 100% honest catch report when job is done.
*landowner may desire daily texted pics of your catches.
*this is NOT a southern trapping vacation. But, I guess it could be. Depends on how good you are.

If you can meet all these requirements and are seriously interested, PM me and I'll dig deeper into your eligibility to handle these jobs.

DO NOT PM me if you cannot handle this. THIS IS NOT A LEARNER'S JOB!! I need someone who is experienced and can travel to, stay at, and trap these properties efficiently and effectively for a 12 to 14 day stint. This is NOT a job for a person that has a full-time job...unless you live right down the road and have very flexible hours.

If you're the type that don't/won't follow the law to the letter, don't bother me. Poaching, when you're being paid to trap, will get you hooked up...and not in a good way....I'll guarantee it!!! And, I'll make sure of it!!!

If you qualify I will gather needed info and contacts over next several weeks and relay to the trapper I feel can handle this.

Don’t seem like much ground 1500 acres , no way to control all the critters that will filter in or say back into that area from adjoining properties. It sounds like a decent stint if your close by . Just curious do you have to house yourself or do they put you up may have missed it ?

It doesn't seem like much ground if you're the type predator trapper that's cut his teeth making a double set at 2 or 3 locations along a farm lane or field corner in a huge field or two. This type job needs to have nearly every decent location set. Almost an overkill approach. Even possums need to go and your time is limited.

This will be an annual job for that very reason....if the trapper satisfies the owners on the 1st go-round. Trapper needs to make a very good showing. You may check and end up pulling a lot of empty trap or you could really pile up the critters quick. One thing is 4 sure....you have to put the sets in to do that in 2 weeks or less. It's not possible setting only the best locations for those few days as weather may hinder you on several days.

Lodging may be provided at a nice hunting lodge. That will be up to the owners.

I understand all that the sets I guess what I meant was it’s a never ending job but you can also nock the heck out of stuff . What I don’t get is you would think on a highly managed place if you have say full time employee you’d think they would learn to trap so you could hammer critters all year long . Again SW I’m not prodding you just curious about some of this stuff that’s posted. That’s way to far for me and to much work for my soon to be 60 year old rear lol

I did this type of work for years. 14-30 day jobs depending on size. Pay depends on your = reputation. I charged more than other. BUT my catch numbers were higher than anyone else in my area. I don’t miss. Lay down 150 traps then pick them up 14-21 day jobs

There are no "employees" on either of these properties. These landowners are wealthy and pay for the management they desire.

That is correct. These are new potential new clients (of my trapping business) needing predator control as part of a plan written by a paid forestry and wildlife consultant.
