Welded link chain sizes??

What trappers call #2 and #3 machine link chain is not the same size designation used in the industry. I think the sizes were totally made up by the trapping industry.

Does anyone know what the trade size is for what we call #2 machine link?

What would be the next size smaller?

Ive looked into this many years ago and I do think it did exist. But it wasn't easy to find and I think you had to buy A LOT of it

You could try McMaster and Carr to see if you can find what you’re looking for but I’m not sure on the numbers.
