Very rough day

Very rough day - 01/17/24 09:32 PM

I know that most of the T-man crew doesn’t know me. Some of you do, especially the great folks that we have met during the Trapperman Spoonbill weekend get togethers at Twin Bridges Oklahoma.
We have enjoyed several years at the get together, and my son and I have really enjoyed taking people fishing for spoonbills. Most were able to catch their first spoonbill , and more! We do have plans of being there this year, and just recently talked about it.
Fast forward to today.
My dear wife, best friend, and life partner, Cindi, has been diagnosed with cancer.
We have made a life together, and very seldom, did we choose the easy road. I believe that we both may be knot heads, but we have always accepted what this life has sent our way. Cindi is a fighter, and I will be right there with her, as will our 3 children.
So, my friends, please keep Cindi in your thoughts and prayers, as we fight this battle together!

Re: Very rough day - 01/17/24 10:31 PM

I feel your pain. My wife was diagnosed in early September. It has been a long, hard road but this Friday she is receiving the last of concurrent radiation and chemo treatments. Since her first diagnosis we have learned they also found thyroid cancer in one of her lymph nodes so they will be doing surgery again, probably fairly soon. She will come out the other side of this. I have found out what a tough, strong, beautiful woman I married.

Trust the doctors. The world of cancer treatment has advanced to the point they are doing cures, and not just treating it.

Your wife and family will need you to be strong but will also need to see emotion from you. It really helps to be able to cry with them and it is perfectly fine to cry alone. I have cried more in the last 5 months than I have my entire life.

I send you and your family my thoughts and strength. I wish you my very best.

Re: Very rough day - 01/17/24 10:56 PM

My wife beat breast cancer that had spread to her liver. That was 24 years ago. At that time it was almost always a death sentence. 2 years ago it returned to her liver and she beat it again in 2023. The strides they have made in that time period are amazing and new stuff is coming out daily. Listen to the doctors, follow instructions, be optimistic and stay strong for her. Prayers and well wishes from frigid Wisconsin.

I agree with the posts with modern medicine,my sister in law was diagnosed with lung cancer 3 years ago
and is cancer free now.
My sister was diagnosed with lymphoma last year, and is cancer free.
Both of them did chemo and radiation.
I hope that this show how modern medicine is working!!

Re: Very rough day - 01/18/24 12:59 AM

Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts. I know that some of you here, and elsewhere, are survivors of cancer.
We are waiting to get an appointment to see just how far it has progressed, and what the options are. Cindi does not know how to do anything but fight, and this is looked upon as a bump in road by her! She is very determined to continue to be a strong momma for her children.
CMCF, today is Doc’s 7th birthday, and it just seems impossible that we took a trip to Wyoming, almost 7 years ago to pick him up at your place. Doc is a loyal partner of ours, that has changed our lives for the better.

Thank you Bob. We actually met at your booth in Lima a few years ago. My son and I spent some time talking with you, and discussing walk thru sets, and rub sets! Whatever you told my son, changed his way of looking at a set! He was so stoked to be able to make his own sets, ( without ol pappy ) and be able to make high percentage coyote sets!
It took my son some time to let the coyotes determine the proper set location, and after that day, he was a different trapper!

Stay strong. My wife has advanced COPD and we found out early this past year she also had lung cancer. She decided to fight it and she has won. Just a few short weeks ago she was told the cancer is gone and should not come back.

cancer can be beat.

We will be praying for ya'll for s long as it takes.

Ol dad

Thank you so much. We are waiting for the next call, from a surgeon, to determine the next move! At this time, we have no info, other than the docs are scheduling a bone scan, to determine how far this has progressed!
Thanks so much Ole’ Dad

Re: Very rough day - 01/18/24 06:03 AM

Yep seems like only a couple years ago.I’m terribly sorry to hear about Cindi I know she’s a fighter. My sister was diagnosed three years ago with stage four she still kicking and fighting. My niece, her daughter was diagnosed couple months back had the surgery, and she says the outlook is very bright with no cells found. Fingers crossed.
You folks will remain in my prayers and may God bless and keep you safe. Tell Doc and Kate, their brother from Wyoming says hello he’s about 105lb. He and Light got up close and personal with a wild boar of approximately 150~175lbs a while back, accounted for themselves quite well. It was a little nerve-racking when they crashed off into the river cane, and all I could hear, was branches, breaking and squealing and snorting and grunting. I was able to call Light off with voice commands but Buck was determined to get in a couple more bites. He finally came to me all muddy and happy as could be. Neither dog suffered any cuts so all ended well. The next time I fish that stretch of river my 45 will be on my hip instead of in the truck.
Well, signing off now and if there’s anything I can do, don’t hesitate to shout. If you don’t have my number, send me a PM and I’ll get it to you.

Thank you everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and offers for help. We will be good, with all of our adult children being near.
We are anxiously awaiting some phone calls, to determine the next move. Cindi says the hugging, and crying is done, because we have work to do. So today, we stayed busy, which helps a lot!
Thank you all!!!

Re: Very rough day - 02/24/24 12:40 AM

Update, Cindi will have surgery on Tuesday, and she is ready to defeat this. She will be in surgery for 8-12 hrs , and she is just ready to go in and get this part over with. We have an amazing family that will be helping with our home, property, dogs, etc…
Cindi is a pretty tough woman, and she is telling me to quit worrying, but I cannot do that , but I will stay strong along side of her.
We have been together for nearly 40 years, and this will only turn out to be a steppingstone in our lives.
