Putting this out there folks - 12/28/23 03:54 PM

Just so you folks know I’m sure some have noticed things have changed somewhat in my sentence construction skills. Not that I was ever great at it but it’s changed. Sharon and I talked about it several months ago and went over it. So its only fair to let others know what’s going on.

A couple years ago I quit sugar because my A1C was over 11 that threw my brain into a deep fog for many months could have been Covid but I’m not sure really just it was rough times for many months. I can’t say how many months because my short term memory is toast now. The fog has cleared up but the results are a poor short term memory, poor simple math skills and no ability to multitask in many situations. Single focus only lots of list making to not forget the equipment to trap with.

MRI shows nothing Doc has no clue he said the short term memory does not impact the long term memory the same. It’s weird and I’m sure it sounds weird but it’s not as bad as it might sound let’s say inconvenient at best. I’ll put it this way I could talk trapping all day no problem but give me 5 numbers to replete back a short time later I could not do it now. Ironically as a young get man I worked in a Ford parts dept and lived by part numbers I still know those numbers no problem. Weird right.

I did talk to a lady at a casino that had similar issues with the head fog for months and numbers issues. She had to quit her job as she was an accountant. Her issue was Covid that’s why I’m not sure what brought this on.

So just a heads up of what’s going on.

Trust me…your post are professionally written compared to some in here, lol.
My wife says I have selective memory. I can remember every detail of the outdoors but when it comes to work I couldn’t tell you what I did two days ago.

I hope you remember our phone conversation we had. Yanno, the one when you promised to give me all your trapping supplies when you hang it up?

wink

Gotta admit, the past year I've noticed my memory has started to fade as well.

No need to apologize at all. If you get to the Coonman level then you have reason to worry.

I see nothing wrong with your posts, you are one of the few non Idaho guys I follow.

Re: Putting this out there folks - 12/28/23 04:19 PM

The important thing is that your MRI was clear. The rest you will deal with just fine because you are smart enough and willing to adapt to whatever it takes.
FWIW, I read about all of your posts and haven't noticed any changes.

My wife has big time short term memory loss resulting from chemo treatments. Non reversible. It's not all bad. She will repeat things 2 or 3 times which is sometimes good since I'm hard of hearing and chances are I never heard it initially. grin

Seriously, good luck and welcome to the aging process. You are not alone.

It happens Jerry to many of us. Sometimes it is due to an illness, stroke or some other trauma in our lives. I see no issue with what you say and most can figure it out well enough to get your point. Like stated, one on here I am challenged to understand very well without an interpreter.

Re: Putting this out there folks - 12/28/23 04:44 PM

I had a bad concussion in 2010. Had a lot of very similar symptoms. I could still name everyone in my Kindergarten class, but would get lost on my way home and to work. All I could do to make a pot of coffee, had a super rough stretch for 3-4 years. Thankfully time is a very good healer. Any head injuries in the last few years ? Sometimes it doesn't take much of a bump to mess things up and we heal so much slower as we get older. Hope this all works out for you. If you've never dealt with it, impossible to understand how crippling and frustrating it can be.

I'm glad your brain fog is getting better.
At least we don't need a decoder ring for your sentences

Single task is my new thing as long as the wife’s not yapping at me it’s somewhat smooth. If she starts talking to me I need to stop in order to get what she’s saying it’s like hitting a wall anyways. I have reread my posts many times to clear up the flow. Loaded the truck for cat trapping today it just takes a lot longer time organizing things, again the lists come in handy.

Everything else is fine really no changes just the flow or construction of thought organization typing a thread is like putting a puzzle together. Good days and bad days ahead for all of us.

Might try that, picking up a butter knife has become a real challenge lately. Way too many years of abusing these hands it catches up to a guy. Should have used setters more then I did.

This was onset from sugar withdrawal nothing says it’s not Covid but I kind of doubt that is this case the wife and I don’t do town unless we need to. For several months it was like having a cold and when you stand up things get foggy. Thank God that’s past I feel back to normal now except for the short term issues. Define head injury, nothing major I have more shoulder injury from protecting my melon from injury.

That lady at the casino had the exact symptoms to a tee so Covid can’t be ruled out times are crazy.

Re: Putting this out there folks - 12/28/23 07:57 PM

A chamber is I think high price, to get treatments here it's like 100$ for an hour
We bought our chamber, 11k$
The lay down ones start at 8k$

My arthritis is only a little stiffness in my knee, my bad finger no longer hurts bad if I bump it, no pain at all, and it looks 95% normal again.
Her fibromyalgia hurt for 18 years, it no longer is noticable.
There's about 130-140 health issues they know it helps.
Especially anything autoimmune or inflammatory

That wont show up on an MRI.

Yes I get one every Drs visit but seeing how withdrawn induced is the cause or Covid it blurs the issue. I kick butt on trivia but a few things are tougher now. .

My wife also suffers from chemo fog, Some days are worse than others , It's gotten to the point that I won't let her drive, I take her to all her DR. appointments and where ever else she wants to go. Covid didn't help matters either. Good luck Jerry.

I hurt in a lot of places mostly from being young and dumb and getting it done but now I’m paying the price for if it’s an expected outcome I’d say. I look at my brother in law a retired farmer and he’s in worse shape than I am, he’s been run over by several cows.

I’m ok once I get rolling I just start out like a steam engine slow and noisy to get going.

Jerry, that looks exactly like what I could have wrote. Hand’s don’t work anymore, and arthritis in my back really slows me down. A few years back, I decided to try and improve my A1C. Went on basically the Keto diet, cut the carbs out, clear down to under ten carbs a day. I had the same brain fog of which you speak, and with time I got over it. a1C started creeping up, so I went back to eating more carbs. Helped in some ways, but hurt in others. It was getting too high again this fall, so I went back on it again, with a twist. I included intermittent fasting along with the diet, and started eating more fat than the first time. Big difference this time, feel much better, no Keto flu, no head fog, but still can’t remember anything! Good luck bud!

Re: Putting this out there folks - 12/29/23 03:55 PM

A little 110v zap cleans the brain out for awhile. Mine started at 50, arms weren't long enough to see anything written clearly anymore. My short term memory, vocabulary are going to crap. I can see the words I want to say or use in a sentence or speaking to someone but can't remember how to say them. It can be demoralizing to an extent, but then I make fun of myself and move on. My brother who is 62 just got diagnosed with progressive early onset dementia. My father had frontal lobe dementia. Doesn't bode real well for me.

I have trouble remembering names, faces, places, shapes, colors and numbers, but I can remember as many as 50 trap sets in the order of how I check them. I've been that way since I was nine. I am not retarded. My mom had me tested.

I haven't been tested yet but I think it's better not to know.

Re: Putting this out there folks - 12/29/23 09:22 PM

understanding covid virus you just have to look at some of the other virus, chicken pox = shingles later on
polio = nerve endings giving way in peoples feet and hands 30 year later
covid ; well we are not into it in the decades and what the virus will come out as
covid fog= yes
covid stomach indigestion= yes

the virus never does leave your body

Hey...Coonman taught me how to spell vechile. Jerry said he worked in the Ford auto industry...so see ? It all fits. wink

One thing I did learn. About a thing called Chemo Brain. Those who have had treatment, radiation, have to fight a lot of short term memory. It is an effect of the treatment . A real issue. I never even knew this existed, until I learned it from JR, Tman's very own Iron Man trapper. He explained it so well. I appreciated his honesty. He mentioned to never hesitate reminding him of things , to help him remember.

Also Jerry, please take Tactical's advice about the H Chamber very seriously. Find one and take advantage of using it please. A hospital near you could probably tell you where to locate one, or they often have chambers at hand themselves . They realize the value of them. It is worth every dollar. More than thousands spent on drugs that are only band aids over the symptoms, not even close to addressing the causes.

You explained yourself in very nice articulation, Jerry. Well done.

If today did not kill me I’m not sure what will I buried the truck in a drifted wallow high centered then dug out a small parking lot after a few hours then I had a landowner come and pull me out I tried to pay he laughed said he had a job for me. He wanted 4 trees cut down just cut them he will do the rest.

Before he left he cut a trail on the low side of the hill if I went that way I would have been golden.
