I found another wallet

I found another wallet - 12/28/23 02:50 PM

Over the course of my life I have found about 15 wallets and 2 purses. I have returned all of them intact. This I found this morning. No money but some ID. Called PD to get it back to it's owner.

Years ago, I found a purse in the ditch while trapping. No ID but had $10 in it. A couple weeks later, there was a lost/found ad in the paper for it. It was a kid’s purse that got thrown from the school bus. It had great sentimental value to her and the family was very happy to get it back. They tried to give me the $10 but I wouldn’t take it.

That's an awful lot of wallets to find. Is there a particular place you actually look for them?

Years ago I lost my nice leather wallet planting soybeans on an IH 806. Had a crisp $100 bill in there. A little under 2 yrs later fertilizer spreader guy found and returned it to me. There was a spot the size of your thumbnail that you could tell was cash money:(. …..DB Cooper’s money is long gone.

Not really. I just scan the ground more closely than most people. Just looking for things people drop. I've found lots of hand tools over the years.

I have a friend who calls me the 'wallet magnet'
I even found 2 in one year.
Most have little to no cash. My best find was one with $454 in it. Yes , I returned it with all the money.

Closest I ever came to find money or a wallet was standing behind someone at a checkout counter and they dropped something when they reached in their pocket. I just bump them and say you dropped something.

To find 15 wallets blows my mind.

I've found couple wallets and a purse over the years with little cash in them and returned them to the rightful owners with everything still in them.they all wanted to give me something and I refused. Most all were grateful to get them back because of credit cards and drivers license more so then the cash.

My brother found a wallet in the woods from a hispanic. He had to be illegal because he was carrying all his cash in there. It had hundreds of dollars, but we were able to return it via facebook.

Three yrs ago last Oct, opening day of Pheasant season in N.D. I found a double gun case with 2 firearms in it. I went to the local Cafe and Bar and gave my # to them if owner should come in. I called the local Sheriff office and told them. They wanted me to bring them to there office. I said no, I fell for that once before. I found a double barreled 12 on the side of a Prairie trail. I took it to the Sheriff office and know one ever claimed it. I still have the two guns in the case. If someone would claim them I would give them back.

Yup. Buddy of mine, a retired Tn state trooper, had his truck stolen with 2 handguns in it. Truck was processed thru a chop shop and never seen again. A couple of years later the chop shop got busted and his handguns were recovered. It has been a couple of years or more since the recovery and he can't get them back from law enforcement. Holding them for "Potential federal charges." Being retired LE he knows the score and has given up on ever seeing them again.

Re: I found another wallet - 12/28/23 09:08 PM

Found one this fall. The lady was a client of the company so they had her cell #
It was rifled from her 6 months prior when she was shopping and they had the two perps on camera.
She had just bought it for 250$ and it looked ok with no rain we had had
replacing all her ID was a pain
in 8 minutes they had put 500$ on it in 3 stores till it was declined by the bank

moral of story; have you bank card and the 800# to phone as soon as you find it gone. It took 1 minute for the bank to cancel but 6 minutes to phone

I have found several through the years. (do a lot of driving) I have returned them all. Sadly most people tend to think I was the one that took their money. If I were to find any again I think I would just drop in a mail box and keep on my way.

Re: I found another wallet - 12/29/23 02:31 AM

I lost my wallet once. What a pitiful feeling that is. I then had no money. I had no ID to get money from the bank. I didn't have my government ID which is nearly impossible to replace even if you did have an ID, and to complicate matters, I need that ID to use my government work computer. I couldn't even work!
Then an angel came down from heaven and put my wallet in my mailbox early the next morning.
They rang the bell, but I was so sleepy from a completely restless night, I couldn't get dressed quick enough to see who it was.
There was $17.00 still in it. I immediately went to the 7-11 and bought a drink and some RedMan with my debit card and asked Sally if she'd give me 17 one dollar bills. I handed her and everyone in line a dollar bill. I told them that it wasn't free. They had to listen to my story about the person who returned the wallet with everything in it, but I didn't know who it was.
I did this the rest of the day to perfect strangers until the 17 dollar bills were gone. I never got tired of telling my story, and the smiles on the faces of all of those perfect strangers was priceless. Gives a fella hope for mankind. I can't help but wonder how many of those strangers have found a wallet since that day and "passed it forward."
