Along the lines of most popular thread but what are your top 3 I am wondering what the T-man data is how does it compare.

for ease of tabulation if you could put them at the top of your post then say anything else after

12ga I lost count at the number I shot with 12 ga slug restrictions and lots of deer around they gave me 4 doe tags this year to go with my buck tag unlikely I am going to fill them all

50cal muzzle loader for much the same reason as 12ga you can use them in slug restricted areas and them some

30-06 I have owned it since I was 14 and if I wasn't hunting slug restricted I was hunting this most of the time.

I have two rifles 280 has the most I won a 7 mm 4 years I've shot a few with that,tomorrow morning I think I'll take out the 280 I've had a 280 since 1993,it's killed quite a few elk and pronhorn when I lived in Montana.First deer I shot was a 12 gauge round ball slug in 1983 I think.280,Hoyt bow and 7 mmag

they call it "reasonable equipment" and they basically have to prove it didn't work

so say you drop a big buck with a 17hmr , you can get the poaching fine and the trespassing fine but they can not get you for unreasonable equipment since it never took another step. yes this actually happened here. guy got caught because he bragged at the bar.

.22mag and .17HMR are also wonderful for the landowner small bore August dove hunting season when all of them are lined up on powerlines and fenceposts. Headshots only though!

Ha Posco! How many lumens does a trucks headlights have? Or a AAA powered mini pocket streamlight?

All I know is that a 30 grain Hornady Vmax .22 mag to the throat patch within 100 yards will stone cold kill any deer.

They are also deadly on heart shots. They run about 30 yards and fall over door knob dead. Got to hit them in the heart though.

when you realize some of the top hunting states for deer #s were or are firearms restricted states OH , MI, WI , IA ,IL , IN all turning in large numbers of deer hunters and kills the slug and muzzle loader also because I grouped all slugs together although 12ga is most popular by far at 19 by it's self and I grouped all the muzzle loaders together although 50 s most common

#2 Savage 110 7mm Rem Mag. "beanfield" set up. 50 plus, a guess.
#3, Ruger Super blackhawk, 44 Mag. 3 kills.

too many to mention, there was a time in my life when I shot a lot of deer, thats what we survived on, I shot them with what cost the least to use. nowadays I like the 6mm, 6.5 Gibbs, or the 6.5 Grendel. mainly because its what I can find or make ammo for the easiest

I've shot deer with,
.257 roberts, 25-06, 264win, 7mm mauser, 284win, 7mmwthby, 30-06, 300wthby, 300 norma, 8mm mauser, 35rem and 45-70 along with muzzleloader and bow.

The 264 is by far my favorite for effectiveness.

.257 Robert's, .25-06, 35 Rem, .30/30, and .270 would cover it. My favorites are the little Robert's and the .35 for very different reasons.
