Project completed , cedar chest - 11/09/23 12:02 AM

I started to refinish an old cedar chest last week. Finally got it back together after sanding and putting the finish on it !

Looks good, I've made several and that cedar wood always makes them pop.

Looks great. What sealer/finish did you use?

Re: Project completed , cedar chest - 11/09/23 03:51 AM

Semi gloss polyurethane 3 coats sprayed with cup paint gun. Paint each side at a time while laying flat . More even and less likely to have runs

It turned out beautiful- did you thin the poly with mineral spirts for your first coat?

I have one sitting on the porch to do that has the lid cracked. It didn't sell at my parents sale so I drug it home and once I fix it, it'll be an ammo box if the woman doesn't claim it, lol.

No it belongs to a friend. It was their great great granny It had been used as a tool box ! Dents and dingsknocked in it .

No I don’t thin my poly unless I’m forced to spray in cool temps. Used to sand between coats by noticed the finish looks just as good without that step. So I don’t. Might spot sand if a bug gets in it before it dries. This one a bird pooped on the lid on the second coat
