92 inch beaver in FFG magazine

Received my Sept 2023 FFG magazine. Page 53 shows a 92 inch beaver pelt. Wow. It is huge. I wonder what live weight would have been ? Marty

I saw that. I had a few that went to the edge of a 32x48 stretcher (80 inches). I cant imagine 92.

I was watching the FHA auction when it came up, at first, I thought it was a joke. I believe it went for $775.

I caught one that weighed 70 lbs on a certified scale and it stretched 80" loose. It was 50" long on the round. 330 under the ice.

Newfox had a big one last season, I wonder what it measured.

Where was it caught?

I had a buddy who brought me a beaver to put up that was loose on a 32 x 48" board. Apparently, I should have bought a bigger piece of plywood!

Amazing. Those big ones it’s nice to have a barn wall or something to stretch on. We’ve toyed with 80 a time or 2 but 92 is amazing.

A 92 incher has to weight 100 lbs or better.

105” is what I’ve been told. They never weighed this one.

Now that is a real blanket beaver,lol.

Greg from FHA said it weighed 98 lbs and was caught in WI in the Mississippi River backwaters

Wow! And the record is apparently 110lbs taken in northern Wisconsin too.

Thanks posting the weight ,I have been wondering about that since I seen it.I'm still wating to break the #70 mark , and when I do, I bet it will be a half mile from the truck and across a muddy field.

Years ago, my dad caught 4 that went over 80" one year with the largest stretching 84". All were caught under the ice.

My best weighed 72 LBS and taped 82" INCHES.

That one is a wallow-hog, for sure !!!!

I want to know what killed it. Would it even fit through a 330? Any type of drowning rig would have to be some seriously heavy weight or a drowning rod shoved 6ft in the mud, lol.

Good point. So I took another look at the picture and the head end looks like it could be pretty bloodshot.

I finally got to the Fur Market Report of my September issue of FFG. That is an impressively large beaver! I would also like to know what type of said it was caught in.

So the FHA one was 92”…not 105”
