One ear for 4 minutes with husk on. Then cut through the husk at the base of the ear and slip the ear out of the husk. Excellent!

What power level do you cook the corn at? At 10, our microwave heats very fast.

How many ears can you cook at once?

Our cheats oven has 1200 watts and we do them at full power. I have done 4 ears at a time. just need to zap them a bit longer

You're spreading its molecules throughout the universe.

Grilled / roasted corn is great too . . . especially if it gets a little smokey flavor to it! laugh

Re: Microwaving sweet corn.... - 08/19/23 02:25 AM

I mostly do it on the grill , soak 20 minutes seems plenty

I have done husk off wrapped in damp paper towel I think that was 2 minutes I don't like my corn over done , just hot.

so it is no surprise it works in the husk

I get a clean new pair of work gloves each year I keep in the kitchen during sweet corn season use them for a while shucking corn off the grill , after sweet corn season they get other uses get another pair next year.

I get my grill tanks filled at the hardware store so easy to grab a pair when it is the start of sweet corn season and I am getting a tank filled.

I like it boiled or steamed the best.

Re: Microwaving sweet corn.... - 08/19/23 04:20 PM

I will have to try the microwave; never did them that way before.

Another good way is to open a can of beer the night before. Let it sit overnight. The next day is add it to your boiling water. Gives the corn a different nice taste when the husked corn is done.

That’s unheard of here. We’re boilers for life!

No microwave, air fryer, toaster oven or electric stove.
So corn goes on the grill or in boiling water on the gas range.

I put Butter and Garlic on them then wrap them in Foil and throw on the Grill. Then about 5 minutes before done I slash the Foil and let the smoky flavor get in!!!

Tried the nuked corn today it was not nearly as good as boiled but it has been in the fridge for 5 days so that may be the reason.

Sorry I don’t recall the details, never tried it myself, but I knew a guy years ago that would wrap sweet corn in Saran Wrap with an ice cube between the corn and Saran Wrap then microwave it.

Gary’s method sounds much simpler and effective.
