Track ID Help - 03/08/23 11:52 PM

Can you help with IDing these tracks. They are 2.5 inches wide and ~12 inches long between footprints I measured them. I believe I know what they are can I get some confirmation of what critter made them. Thanks

The trail/track line is only 2.5 inches wide I measured them. All fluffy snow about 4 inches deep. I doubt a skunk track very much. I had a rancher friend caught 3 skunks in the last two nights.

Spot on, both feet are not landing at same time...not an ermine. It a bird that does not hop, but rather walks like a crow/raven

Ive seen crow and pheasant both walk in deeper snow than that and not leave tail marks....and I doubt they are stepping all the way through to the dirt. Im sticking with bird...

I have the same snow here from yesterday. I say weasel. I would be surprised if I can't find some tomorrow that would look just like it. crows hop or walk, and pheasants run and they don't have 12" between prints.

I agree I know what pheasant tracks look like there are thousands of them not all that far from this picture. To me it looks like whatever it is, it is dragging its feet as it jumps and leaps through the snow. The feet are very small that are dragging and making the straight-line marks. It is only 2.5 inches wide the outside marks in the snow. The print I don't believe has bird feet what I could tell.

Maybe, but pretty narrow for them too. and was a lightweight critter whatever it was, and size of foot hole was smaller than a < dime in size. Might be though.
