I use the regular bacon ends to make bacon burgers w/deer meat. Where do you buy them?

It is at the Clover Dale out let store Mandan. I have had bacon burger made with beef, deer and elk and thought it was a waste of good bacon. If I want bacon with a burger I will cook the bacon and added after the burger is cooked. It did nothing for the burger to me.

The cheapest ends and pieces I can find are $2.99...J.F. Martin. For a long time they were just over $2/lb.
I never add bacon or anything to venison burger until I make something like a meatloaf or meatballs. Can always add to it, but can't take it out

I do 10% in the burgers. Gring the bacon semi frozen to keep from smearing through the plate.

I went to the Cloverdale outlet store today and got $150 worth of meat. 30 lb case of sliced bacon, 12lb ends and pieces pepper bacon, 5 lb ham, 10 lbs sliced ham and 10 lbs of smoke link sausage. 67 lbs of Cloverdale goodness.

Do they have Tangy Summer Sausage?

Next time I go through Mandan, I'm checking that place out.

That stuff would be perfect to season up some beans when it gets cold out. Good find

Yes, they have summer sausage. It was not on sale, so I passed. They run sales on over stock, often it is froze. My 30 lbs of sliced bacon was not on sale. It was $100. Still a pretty good price as far as bacon goes. For $50 I got the rest of the 37 lbs of meat. You better take a cooler, a big one.

Yeah you did good. My fav German butcher does the same thing. He cuts to the price on anything he has too much of and you better buy it that day. It might be gone tomorrow

lots of differences in bacon besides the price....quality can differ greatly and you do not get good quality for cheap...usually.

Re: My new favorite bacon - 09/03/22 03:26 AM

Cloverdale has good bacon. They make a couple different kinds, and from what I have ate, it ranks as good as any I ever had. The 30 lb box of sliced was real meaty. I have no clue how many pounds of their bacon I have ate, but its not the first 30lb case I got. In the grocery store in town it is $6.98 a pound.
