We'd have to use a pickaxe to spud the hole here. We are still 90+ days out.

Last week of April for me if the soil is dry enough to plant and work. I have always tried to go as early as I could. This last year I waited a week and the soil was a lot more warmed up and sprouting was faster, more even and higher percentage. Now I plan to do a few early hills and wait with the main crop.

I will think about it in 3 months.
They can take a lot of cold weather. I dont garden any more but always did plant mine on st patricks day here in KS. Planted my peas carrots radish's spinach and lettuce then to. Had spinach greens in April. That late in March , snow wont last 24 hours and the ground quits freezing here. Most years. I never had to replant.

Planted them on Valentines day. One of the good things about living this far south you can get a garden in early. Will plan pintos and corn in 2 weeks.

plant potatoes on Good Friday.
Hmm, Easter (Good Friday) can be as early as March 22 and as late as April 25. That rule-of-thumb gives you a lot of flexibility I guess.
I found it much easier to buy potatoes rather than raise them. There is a farmer near us that sells 50 pound bags for $8.00, they are graded and washed and we always buy the jumbo potatoes.
when soil temp is above 45* F or they are much more likely to rot in the ground
cut your eyes and lay your cuts out in the sun to season them till the cut side is dry you can also use a potato fungicide on your cuts before planting to reduce blight risk
day time temps in the 50s and when you can till deep wait a week and till again is about the right time for us. to soon you hit frozen ground tiling
I wish I could buy 50 pound bags of taters for 8 bucks. I would sure do it.

My thoughts too.
Back in the mid '70's when I was in high school I worked on a truck farm. The guy I worked for sold potatoes for 10 cents a pound. If you shop around today you can still buy them in bulk for 10 to 15 cents a pound.

Almost none of the stuff I raise in my gardens comes out at a lower cost then shopping around to buy, but then I enjoy tilling the soil, harvesting and processing crops. Our daughter-in-law is setting up to do some late season farmer's markets with frozen lamb and other meats. I am going to add some maple syrup and garden items to the menu this year.
